OUR HISTORY

Construplan is born out of the idea of making
Sonora a better place, thinking about the needs
of a community that decades ago didn’t have
the infrastructure that it has nowadays

This dream began on March 24^th, 1980 not knowing
that we would someday reach not only beyond state
borders but also become highly recognized within
Mexico and even become an international enterprise.

Each and every project we have ever done is a dream
that came to be thanks to a lasting dream and a constant
spirit of continuous improvement. Throughout our history,
we have become aware that the key to success lies in the knowledge and experience of our people as well as the hard work that is put into each task every day.

We always seek to satisfy our clients' needs by providing services and becoming a strategic partner exceeding their expectations for quality, time, and costs, always working with safety to watch over the physical integrity of each and every single one of our team members who are fundamental in our company.

Timeline

1980
Grupo Construcciones Planificadas is born with commercial buildings, warehouses,
and housing projects in Hermosillo, Sonora. Soon after we began our first
government-issued project for the renovations of the historic center of the town
of Arivechi Sonora.

1982 a 1986
We carried out the first urban infrastructure projects consisting of water lines and sewer
systems for Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregon, Sonora.

1985
We carried out our first works on roads and pavements during the construction
of different stretches of the four-lane highway expansion from Nogales to Estacion Don.

1996
We had our first international alliance for the execution of industrial works for Nyco Mine.
This project detonated the diversification of our services including industrial building,
urban infrastructure, electromechanical works, and gas lines, among others.

2000
Our Industrial Division became a reality with projects providing services for the automotive market: we began working inside assembly plants executing technological innovation projects, automatization, control, robotics, CNC machinery, lean manufacturing, and others. It was also during this year that the Heavy Construction Division was established to provide massive earth movements for the mining industry. The quality, safety, and environmental care with which we’ve worked, made Construplan stand out and gain national and international recognition.

2002
We came up with our first projects for the Energy and Gas sector thanks tou our work in the construction of combined cycle power plants, gas compression stations, and 115-230 KVA electrical substations.

2003
Construplan obtained ISO 2001-2000 certification for the management of construction projects in the automotive sector.

2004
In order to provide infrastructure works, impulse and conduction lines, emitters, pumping stations, sanitary sewer, and pipe replacement systems we opened our first out-of-state offices in Tijuana, Baja California.

2007
New ventures began for us, this time within airports; construction and resurfacing for taxiways, runways, commercial platforms, shoulders, lightning, edge cables, and approach lights.
We also got OACI certification in several airports throughout the country.

2010
Thanks to the outstanding results of our Heavy Construction Division we had the opportunity to begin mining operations leading Construplan to become one of the biggest mining contractors in the country. The Industrial Division was also a big part of 2010s success establishing offices in Sinaloa and the Bajio region for its two branches: the Automotive and the Food and Beverage Divisions.2010 was also a year where our management skills and good financial practices led us to become one of the Best Mexican Companies for the first time, a recognition that we maintain to this day.

2012
During this year our earth-moving services expanded, now offering industrial platforms,
leaching pads, and tailings dams. In 2012 we also did massive hydraulic concrete paving
projects in Baja California and Sonora.

2014
Our highways and freeway paving services intensified with projects for SCT and CAPUF.
This same year we also began construction for PTAR wastewater treatment plants.

2015
We had our first ventures into hydraulic water dams with the CCR system.

2017
We carried out concrete water canal construction for a power plant in the state of Sonora.
This project represented a big challenge since we had to lower the water level by approximately 19 meters through synchronous pumping batteries for the intake channel slabs to cast.

2018
The Special Projects Division built the C5, a high-security federal building with high-end technology constructive systems and equipment. Also this year we worked in the consortium
in the construction of the General Hospital of Specialities in Hermosillo, Sonora which was also developed with high-end specialty equipment.

2019
Our service catalog kept growing, now including Energy Division. Our market also grew expanding beyond Mexican borders for the first time with the execution of a Food and Beverage Industrial Construction project in Colombia.

2020
Our founder Alfonso Reina Villegas steps down as CEO to become Chairman of the Board of Directors. The CEO position was now occupied by Gerardo Reina Cecco who had held different positions in the company since his joining in 2009. With a new leader and new challenges we began a new strategic vision, searching for the transformation into a more agile and flexible business model that helps us ensure our continuity in the mining and construction markets.

2021
Our Mining Division took a big step in expanding its services by kicking off subterranean mining operations in Juanicipio, Zacatecas.

2022
Construplan becomes an international enterprise with a presence in 3 countries, now including Peru where we began marketing strategies for our Heavy Construction and Mining services.
Also in 2022, after a successful execution of a Food and Beverage project in Colombia,
we formally established offices in Bogota.
